Pimp My Sample Add to Chrome

legal

Privacy Policy

effective august 7, 2026 · applies to the Pimp My Sample Chrome extension and this website

the short version

We collect nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no servers. Your recordings never leave your device.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension has no account system, no sign-up, no analytics library, no crash reporting, no tracking pixels and no backend. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data, usage data or audio — because there is no server to send it to.

Where your recordings live

Everything you record is stored locally on your machine:

  • the sample library lives in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB), inside your Chrome profile;
  • if you choose a disk folder, WAV files are written directly into that folder — a location you pick and can revoke at any time;
  • settings (folder choice, preferences) are stored in Chrome's extension storage, on your device.

Uninstalling the extension removes the browser library. Files already written to your folder are yours and stay untouched.

Permissions, and why each exists

tabCapture
records a tab's audio — only when you start a recording with a click or shortcut. Chrome requires a fresh gesture per tab; nothing can be recorded without you asking.
sidePanel
shows the recorder and library in Chrome's side panel.
activeTab · tabs
identifies the tab you asked to record and its title/URL, so a clip can be named after its source. This never leaves your device.
storage
saves your library and settings locally.
contextMenus
adds the right-click "record this tab" entry.
offscreen
runs the recording engine in the background so a recording survives closing the panel.

The extension requests no host permissions — it cannot read or modify the websites you visit.

Network requests

The extension makes none. This website is static and loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which may see your IP address as any font CDN does; the site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

Your content, your responsibility

Pimp My Sample is a recording tool. What you record and how you use it is up to you — practice and reference freely; if you release music built on copyrighted material, clear the sample first.

Changes & contact

If this policy ever changes (for example, if an optional cloud feature is added), the change will be announced here with a new effective date before it ships. Questions: pimpmysample@gmail.com.
